2011 Music Videos   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
We've already seen some great music videos coming out since the turn of 2012. Some of our favourite musicians and artists have already given us some smash hits, and 2012 is sure to bring many more. But while we are looking forward to the new and wonderful additions to the music video world, we don't want to forget to mention our favourites of the last year. So without further ado, here are the most memorable music videos of 2011.
Image By: AlexKormisPS (ALM)Adele was one of the biggest stars of 2011, with music that many have come to love. She's also got some great music videos which complimented her music. One of the best we saw was the music video for Rolling in the Deep. It featured great cinematography, incredible scenery and sets, and of course the hit song. Adele is a favourite of the year for more reasons than one, and her music videos make her even more exciting.
Weird Al also came out with a music video in 2011, a parody of Lady Gaga's Born this Way. Perform This Way, as it was called, actually drew some controversy, as it seems that Lady Gaga was reluctant to let him parody her music. Whatever happened, we ended up with a hilarious video of Weird Al in a variety of hideous costumes singing about weirdness in general.
And speaking of Lady Gaga, she came out with a gem of her own. Her song and accompanying video You and I was released in mid-2011. If nothing else, it was certainly bizarre enough for us to remember. The catchy tune was one that stuck in our heads, for sure, and the video features Lady Gaga's transformation into a mermaid.
2011 saw music videos of all sorts, and we can only wait with anticipation for what all our favourite musicians will bring us this year.

Our Favourite Celebs   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
2011 was a great year for celebrity news, and now that 2012 has come around, there's sure to be more. From scandals to controversies to new celebrity fads, 2011 had it all. Celebrities died, had children, committed crimes and suffered from them, did well, did bad, and basically lived their glitzy lives under our watchful eyes. With everything that happened, we should take a breath, take stock, and look back to see which celebs of 2011 were our favourites.
There's no way we can start a list about our favourite celebrities without giving the top spot to leading man Ryan Gosling. If we had to choose one celebrity of the year, we'd choose him. Besides the fact that he starred in incredible – and impressively varied – hits this year like Crazy, Stupid Love, The Ides of March and Drive, he's also done his share of good deeds. To give one example, he broke up a street fight as he was passing by – presumably with his serious stare and extreme good looks.  Image By: friskytuna
Apple computer pioneer Steve Jobs is another celeb that deserves a mention on this list. He passed away in 2011, but his legacy will surely live on forever. He gave us all our favourite gadgets, completely transformed the world of technology and left us with his deep thoughts and quotes on life, and hopefully went onto something better. We'll miss you, Steve.
Angelina Jolie continues to be one of our favourite celebs, as she's trying to do her part to make the world better. She's adopted children, travelled all over the world to places in need, and is currently working as a member of the UN. She's just come out with a very controversial, eye-opening movie called In the Land of Blood and Honey, which she says she hopes will increase awareness (and will hopefully be a bit better that The Tourist).
Besides these, there are hundreds of others doing their part to make the world better without the money and influence of Hollywood superstars – all of whom deserve a place on this list. We can't include them all, but we can look at them as a good example and try to do better ourselves.

2011: Most Hated Celebrities    [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
Celebrity news is a big talking point, and millions of people scan newspapers, magazines and websites everyday - desperate not to miss out on any of the juicy gossip. Who can blame them? It's sometimes fun to see people you think you know doing interesting things, especially bad things, and learn more about their exclusive lives. However, during the past year we have heard way too much news about people we can't stand and don't want to hear any more about. Such infamous characters are constantly making the news for, well… nothing, and it's a mystery to everyone – except those writing the news - why they are worth talking about. Then of course there are also the annoying celebs that make the news for all the wrong reasons, and which are equally worth slagging off around the water cooler. So here, by popular opinion, are the people in the world that nearly everyone loves to hate.
Of all the people whImage By: Chicago PhotoShopo we don't like, and who seem to spend their lives doing nothing and making news out of it, we don't really want to talk about any more than they deserve. However (just because we hate them so much), we'll mention a few. Paris Hilton has made this list for years now, and it seems unfair to add her… but she's just so annoying. Snooki and her Jersey Shore troop are other celebrities who are sure to follow in Paris's steps and be hated for as many years as we keep hearing about them. Then there are the Kardashians, who seem to be famous only because people keep talking about how much they hate them.
Of the people who truly deserve a bit of a backlash, we have Jesse James - who made news for cheating on Sandra Bullock. Don't mess with our favourite leading lady, Mr James! Simon Cowell still makes the list, even though he doesn't do American Idol or Britain's Got Talent any more (some things just can't be forgiven). Casey Anthony tops the list, though, right up there with O J Simpson. Because getting famous for getting away with a crime is no way to get famous. Actually, it is – but that doesn't mean we have to like it…

5 Top 2011 Earners   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee

2011 saw a couple of massive names making large amounts of money. Most of the celebrities that made it to the top of end of year lists might not have been predicted 12 months ago. These stars have beaten people who have been holding the positions for some time.
Here is a list of the best paid celebrities of 2011.
1. Lady Gaga - $90 million.
As strange as she is, Gaga has got her name on many different lists, including ‘best female earner 2011’ and ‘best paid celebrities under 30’. She had a very busy year with concerts across different continents, selling around 15 worldwide.
2. Leonardo DiCaprio - $77 million.
DiCaprio was in Hollywood’s highest earners list in 2010 with $62 million, but this last 12 months has seen him generate an extra $15 million added to the 2010 figures. Quite a year for the actor that many thought had flopped after Titanic.
3. Justin Beiber - $53 million.
At only 18 years, Justin is the youngest celebrity in the list. With a gross of up to $100 million worldwide for his “Never Say Never” concert video, there was no doubt that he was to gain big rewards in 2011.
4. Johnny Depp - $50 million.
With estimated earnings of $100 million in 2010, the Pirates of the Caribbean star did not do as well in 2011 with his income roughly half of that of the previous year. It’s still not a bad year though.
5. Adam Sandler - $40 million.
Last on our list we have Adam Sandler the owner of the Happy Madison Entertainment Company. The main source of his $40 million is believed to be from the film Just Go With It, which took up to $214 million at the global box office.
This list contains only actors and artists. All the incomes indicated here exclude incomes obtained from other investments other than the entertainment industry.

The Magic of Lady Gaga   [Report Abuse]

Lady Gaga – real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – is one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Not only is she a singer, but she is also a songwriter and a stage performer. Her music has been described as soulful, and is truly inspiring to her many fans. She is certainly famous for her music, but some people would argue that she is even more renowned for her outfits. Gaga is well-known for wearing the most unconventional and daring clothing available.
Image By: John Robert CharltonLady Gaga has a personality with many dimensions. She has the melodies, voice and mind for writing heart-touching songs; she is a powerful stage performer, and her concerts are usually sold out; she has a miraculous personality and most of the audiences are taken aback by her antics on stage; she has become a role model for millions of young people the world over and many of these people aspire to be superstars like her.
Not only is she a talented musician and performer, but she is also a great businesswoman. When she started out she had very little. But now she is a multi-millionaire, and has successfully turned herself into a brand, and not just a celebrity. If anything she shies away from the camera in her day-to-day life, and very little is known about her relationships or what she does when hanging out at home.
She first began her career as a songwriter, which is when she starting working with record labels. Over time she progressed into a musician in her own right. She first burst onto the scene in 2007, and since then it has not taken her long to reach these great heights in the music industry. In short, Lady Gaga cannot be compared to other musicians of our time and will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.

Celeb Mums Walk It Off   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
Not sure who to look to for dieting tips? Breezing through magazines at the supermarket, checking out or watching your favourite celebrity programme, you may notice cases like Lady Gaga and her almost death diet. Seemingly, she may need to look for advice herself. Celebrity mums sure know how to diet. These celebrities always have cute babies and they keep their trim tummy.
Who would have thought of something as simple as a daily walk? Walking a lot with stroller and baby on board is good for both. Walking will shed the calories but some good air sheds the stress as well. The always cute Amy Adams is captured from time to time strolling along green grass while daughter Aviana gazes at other playing children. Walking at least an hour daily keeps this celebrity slim.
As simple an act as a walk in the park, accompany your stroll with a bottle or two. Not a bottle of wine, but rather nature’s purest essence: water. One of our celebrity judges, Padma from Top Chef, recommends this dieting tip because of its filling qualities. Sometimes the feeling of hunger is confused for the need of water.
When it is munching time, what to do with all of those nasty crisps, packaged crackers and mysterious cheese garbage? Only one word answers whether we should keep these snacks around: eliminate. At least according to one hot celeb, the Stella Luna’s mother and loser of 26 pounds, Ellen Pompeo, says to take this garbage out. Known as processed food, she states this takes away your energy.
A lot of these celebrities take advantage of receiving advice and looking into books written by nutritionists or doctors. This counsel is not just mum-relevant though; regular people and anyone who has babies should be remembering the basics of a nurtured body: walking and water.

Rise &Fall of Celebs   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
Many rising stars have emerged this year in the world of Hollywood. Such new stars as Blake Lively, Amber Heard, Alex Pettyfer, Tayler Lautner, and many others have moved from minor TV roles to larger more top of the line roles in the latest movies. Why this sudden growth in new rising actors and actresses?
There are many theories are about this and quite a few rumours have been circulating. There have been a lot of whispers of top celebrities retiring in order to pursue a happier married life, raise children, or move on to what they consider the bigger and better. Some of the rumoured retiring stars, such as Brad Pitt, Neil Patrick Harris, and many others have denied these allegations and firmly stated that they would continue their career while putting an additional amount of work into their beloved families and other lines of work.
Another important detail that has affected the acting world incredibly is the aging of many of its former stars, and the slower pace of life that many of them have to live behind the scenes. As they begin to get older, many of them will need to move at a slower pace and for this reason new stars are selected to take their places.
For this reason and a great deal of others, the one-time small celebrities have been needed to fill in roles and have taken the challenge, some of whom have become quality actors and actresses due to the need. They have stepped up the pace and met the challenges that they were presented with, creating a name for themselves overnight in many cases. Some have moved out of the music world into the world of cinema, while others have increased their sphere of influence to have it branch into acting, singing, and a few more careers overnight.

The Tree of Life   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
Hollywood has produced an incredibly new style and medium of producing movies with the creation of original and quality entertainment via The Tree of Life. This movie is created in a style that could be said to nearly mimic a silent movie, with both dialogue and active scenes being almost unimportant in this movie.
The movie is more or less an open ending story of a middle class family in the fifties (starring actor Brad Pitt and actress Jessica Chastain) and the challenges they face along the road of life. It jumps occasionally to the life of the eldest boy once he has grown up and moved on to his career and how these circumstances and life experiences affected him personally. It has been compared to a modern day and realistic version of Homer’s Odyssey, especially pertaining to highly emphasized wrestling of the two spirits of nature and grace throughout the movie, both in the boy’s life and all around them. It is one of the first movies created past the year 2000 that features so strongly scenes of nature and classical music, with scenes of this kind lasting as long as 10 minutes in the movie with no apparent subjective point. The aim of these scenes it has been said are to draw emphasis to role played by grace and nature in the world and universe as a whole.
Overall the movie has gotten mixed reviews. On the one hand there is a more cynical crowd viewing it as a movie without a solid or fixed plot line, with too many questions left unasked or unanswered, and on the other hand, those of the artistic community focusing on the artistic angle of the movie and revealing how not showing the answers to all the questions raised has made the movie’s point even stronger. What about you? What does it mean to you?

Most Talked-About Celebrities of 2011   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
We know how much some people may like to talk about their favourite celebrities. It's typical of the human condition to look at other people and imagine, “I wonder what being like them would be like?” And with celebrities, it’s especially easy to wonder about this. There are, however, some people that we wouldn’t like to be seen as. There are some celebrities that have such a scandalous reputation that we can’t help but feel awkward every time we hear their name.
Of course, who could forget the eccentric antics of Charlie Sheen this year? For some bizarre reason, he suffered from a sort of episode that resulted in his being fired from his hit TV sitcom, Two and a Half Men. He then proceeded to give a series of exceedingly strange interviews where he described his lifestyle as “winning”, said that he was on the miraculous drug known as “Charlie Sheen” and in fact claimed that he had “tiger blood”. His increasingly odd behaviour led to Sheen becoming somewhat of a running joke on the internet, making many people speculate about his future in the acting world.
And who could ignore the antics of the artist known as Lady Gaga? She’s done everything from wearing a dress that strongly resembled a gyroscope to one that certainly took several cows to make. Her name has practically become synonymous with over-the-top antics, in and outside the entertainment world. She has been able to build a career by being at the headlines of the gossip columns world-wide. Through her rather unusual styles (and being able to craft her own fashion line out of what other people might consider too strange) she has made a reputation as one of the most high-profile celebrities alive.

Maintaining That Celebrity Form   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: kehpohchee
How do celebrities get the bodies that they want? What diets or exercise programs do they do that meet the needs of their bodies so well as to provide them with the incredible physique that they have? Examples such as Kate Gosselin who has had six children or Sean Penn who is 51 and still manage to keep up an incredibly toned and well-formed body astound us all. We all look at these stars and try to think how we can look that good and that toned.
The first factor that weighs in heavily in the world of celebrities is the amount of work and time they put into their bodies. As people who live by their looks, these entertainment stars are required to work hard and get the results that they’re looking for. Maybe you are the same - you work hard - but just haven’t gotten that edge on your body where you look drop dead good in a bikini or bathing suit.
Another thing that weighs highly in the favour of these actors is that those who are fit all work directly with trainers or have done enough research to set themselves up as trainers themselves. These professionals know what amount they need to ingest and when in order to provide the proper nutrients at the right time to maximize results.
In order to attain a body of a movie star, you have to work like a movie star. It’s not quite easy and takes daily dedication and serious self-discipline. Working hard, eating right and really taking care of themselves are all requirements so they can do their job well like movie stars that they are. They have achieved their preferred level of fitness and that “Hollywood body” by their blood sweat, and rigorous obedience to the goals that they set.
